The DB-0 Data Bridge

The simplest way to get your building access reader connected to just about anything

The Linkstream DB-0 Data Bridge is an easy to use adapter that allows RFID, NFC, Bluetooth and most building access readers to connect to a range of office equipment. Bringing touchless access to printers, time and attendance terminals, parking access systems and more is now a snap.

The DB-0 sends ID badge data as keystrokes or emulates a serial port for instant connectivity without requiring programming. This makes for the simplest of integration with existing software such as spreadsheets, text applications, or other systems that take standard inputs.

The DB-0 supplies 5V USB power to the reader for a clean installation, and the 2-meter cable allows for simple pigtail connection to the reader.

The Linkstream DB0-V Wiegand to RS232 converter allows interfacing RFID and other access control readers to vehicle telematics systems for driver ID or other industrial applications.

RFID readers traditionally used for building access are rugged devices that are ideally packaged for use in vehicles, however they don’t readily integrate with most vehicle systems. The Linkstream DB0-V handles both data and power conversion for easy integration with vehicle telematics and industrial control systems operating on 12 or 24 volts DC.

The DB0-V converts the Wiegand protocol used by RFID readers to the RS232 standard compatible with most telematics systems. Additionally, these readers are not able to accommodate the range of power voltages found in industrial applications, which could be up to 24 volts. The DB0-V conditions the incoming power supply with spike and overvoltage protection so the reader is also protected.

The Linkstream DB-1 Data Bridge is a multi-interface data converter that allows RFID and magstripe reader data to be interfaced to a wide range of systems. From PC’s to access control systems, the DB-1 enables integration across disparate systems and interfaces.

The DB-1 has two I/O port connectors offering support for Wiegand, Clock and Data, and RS232 communications. This allows physical connection between the reader and most host based access controllers or as a two reader data combiner. Also included are 2 GPIO ports on each connector that can be used to control user feedback signals on the readers or other purposes. In addition, a USB connection allows for Virtual COM and keyboard emulation interfaces to a host device and is also used for programming the device.

Data received by the DB-1 can be manipulated in virtually any way using its powerful 32-bit processor. Hex – decimal – BCD conversions, adding or filtering for characters, and many bit manipulation capabilities are a few of the most commonly used functions. Linkstream’s customization services make all of this available and more through the development of customized firmware.

Field wiring is simple using the pluggable terminal blocks for both interface ports as well as external power. It is housed in a rugged ABS enclosure with clearly marked connections on the top of the device.
